This past weekend I had the most amazing day ever!!! I was fortunate enough to have a ticket to the Elle magazine's 'loves being a woman' day. A day to celebrate being a woman and the power of femininity. This day was just to exciting for words, filled with so much activities and interesting people.
My day started with a very frustrating
hour of finding the beautiful estate; Val de Vie. At arrival I was served prawn
tempura rolls and an ice cold Appletizer. After we went into the hall, where I
got my front row seat. We were entertained and educated by a few guest
speakers, first welcomed by Elle magazine editor; Jackie Burger. Some of the
very interesting speeches included; liquid plastic surgery, what a man wants,
Elizabeth Arden representatives, decor and my favourite were the trend
forecasting for summer which was presented by Elle's fashion department. Then
we had our amazing three-course meal.
I was so honoured
to also meet Jackie Burger (my idol), what an amazing woman. I can't wait to be
at the stage of my career where i can be in her presence on a daily basis.
Afterwards we were
served our dessert outside while we were tempted with pop-up shops.
This included
summer collections, doing your hair, nails, make-up, testing perfumes and many
more.
After
spending an hour or so in the sun drinking champagne and indulging in
strawberry cheesecakes. We were very lucky to see a few collections for summer.
All of the collections had a lot of things in common which they are
representing as trends for this upcoming summer. It includes floral prints,
tropical and art prints, a lot of metallic jewellery, bright colours and bright
coloured shoes. There was also local designers' collections such as; Two, Kluk
and Christopher Strong. Kluk's collection was absolutely breath-taking, his
inspiration was "Disney Princesses", and it made me feel like a
little girl and my day-dreaming fantasies. Another very impressive collection
was Christopher Strong. His entire collection was just black couture. I have no
words to describe the skill and style of these garments.
Our day ended with some lucky draws, where
I ended up being very Unlucky, but I was very happy when I was sent home with a
R1000 worth gift bag.
This was a day
that I will not easily forget for a very long time. What an absolutely once in
a lifetime experience.
